Year 5 'School in Action' Day

We would like to invite you and your daughter to attend an additional opportunity to experience our school’s learning environment during our School In Action Day on Thursday 23rd January 2025, during the school day.

We think it is invaluable to come and see our School ‘in-action’, so we will run tours of the school throughout the day. Tours will take place at the following times, 9:30 – 10:00am, 10:45 – 11:15am, 11:45 – 12:15pm, 1:30 – 2:00pm and 2:15 – 2:45pm. They will last approximately 30 mins to 1 hour. You are required to stay with your daughter for these tours and we would appreciate no more than two accompanying adults. Staff will be available to answer any questions or queries you may have.

If you would like to join us at this School In Action Day, please confirm your attendance time, via the link below. Please only register for one tour slot. This registration will need to be completed by Monday 20th January 2025. Please remember to inform your Primary School of your intention to attend.

The 11+ Test

To apply for Year 7 at Boston High School, students must first sit an 11+ entrance test. This test is administered at the start of Year 6 (in September) in collaboration with local primary schools. Your child needs to achieve the minimum required score, which is set and standardised by the Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools.

If you live within our Designated Transport Area (DTA)

The 11+ testing for girls in our DTA is administered by Boston High School, and your child will take the test at their Primary School. Please complete our online 11+ registration form, below, to confirm your child’s participation in the 11+ test.

Our Designated Transport Area (DTA) is defined by Lincolnshire County Council. If you live within the DTA and your child is eligible, living outside of the 'walking distance' prescribed in their transport policy, they will provide transport to Boston High School in line with this policy. If you live outside of our Designated Transport Area (DTA)

There are several local primary schools outside our Designated Transport Area (DTA) where we remain the nearest Grammar School. We collaborate closely with these schools, and the 11+ tests are administered by their staff. This allows your child to take the test at their Primary School, with the papers then sent on to us for processing. These schools are:

If you live outside of our DTA and your child’s Primary School isn’t listed above, your child can take the 11+ test at our School instead. Please fill out our online 11+ registration form, below, to confirm your child’s participation in the 11+ test.

If you wish your daughter to take the 11+ selection test for entry to Boston High School (or any other Lincolnshire Grammar School), you must complete our online registration form using the link below, by 31st March 2025. Please be aware that this in itself does not constitute an application to a particular Grammar School.

11+ Results

11+ results are e-mailed to parents in mid October. To be eligible for a place at Boston High School, they must meet the minimum required standardised score on both papers.

Next Steps: Applying for a place at Boston High School

If your child has achieved the required standardised score in their 11+ and you wish for them to attend Boston High School; the next step is for you to submit a Secondary School application via the Lincolnshire County Council website (link below). Be sure to choose Boston High School as your first preference. Historically, we have always been able to accommodate all girls who achieved the required standardised score in their 11+ test, but please note that our oversubscription criteria is detailed in our admissions policy.
