Homework
Homework is set to complement and develop our student’s wider understanding, by extending and deepening our students’ learning. It is important that students understand that preparation and organisation of their own time and work is a key skill that they learn at school and which prepares them for further study, employment and later life.
Key Stage 3 Homework Guidance
Students will be set 30 minutes task per week for each Core subject (English, Maths, MFL and Science) and 30 minutes per fortnight for other subjects.
For example; Maths homework (Sparx Maths) will be set every Monday for completion the following Thursday.
English - Termly reading and reading task.
Science – Topic reading task.
KS3 Homework Timetables 2024-25

Key Stage 4 Homework Guidance
Students will be set 45 minutes per week for each Core subject (English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and 45 minutes per fortnight for other subjects.
Individual revision will of course, also be required.
Key Stage 5 Homework Guidance
Students are expected that for every formal lesson a student will spend the equivalent time on independent activities such as:

Written homework

Reading homework
-
Preparation for next lesson
-
Revision for assessments
-
Consolidation of notes
-
Research and wider reading around the subject
Students in Key Stage 5 are expected to manage their own time to prepare for future studies/employment. Individual revision will of course, also be required.
